Kinwat taluka · Nanded district
The district's largest and least densely populated taluka, in the far north.
Kinwat is the largest taluka in Nanded district by a clear margin - 1,532 square kilometres, nearly four times the area of Nanded taluka. Its Census 2011 population of 247,786 spread across that area gives a density of just 162 people per square kilometre, the lowest in the district and around half the district average of 319.
One location only: opposite Citizen Gym, Deglour Naka, Nanded 431604. Customers from Kinwat travel to that centre. There is no outcall or home-visit service.
Kinwat occupies the district's northern extremity, in more varied and hillier terrain than the open agricultural country around Nanded city. It borders Himayatnagar and Mahur within the district, and reaches the Yavatmal district and Telangana boundaries beyond.
The Penganga river belt runs through this northern region. Sahasrakund waterfall on the Penganga is commonly described as accessible from Islapur in Kinwat taluka, as well as from the Sahastrakund village area in neighbouring Himayatnagar - it is one of the district's best-known monsoon destinations.
The lowest population density in the district, across the largest area, is the single most useful fact about Kinwat: services here are spread thin, and residents are used to travelling for them.

National Highway 161A passes through Kinwat. Its route runs Mahur - Kinwat - Himayatnagar - Mudkhed - Waghala - Mukhed, so the highway provides a continuous corridor from Kinwat towards the Nanded Waghala area.
Kinwat also has a station on the rail line between Mudkhed Junction and Adilabad, alongside Sahasrakund, Himayatnagar and Bhokar. Mudkhed connects onward to Nanded.
