The appeal is consistency. A tool holds an even pressure along a long stroke in a way hands cannot sustain, which is why the work sits mostly on the back and the larger muscle groups rather than on small or delicate areas. Which tools are used is your choice - say what you want more of, or less of, and the therapist will work that way.

The session starts the way an oil massage does. The therapist warms the area by hand with oil first, then brings the tools in, moving between hands and tools for the rest of the hour. The tools are an addition to a massage, not a replacement for one, and most sessions use all of them on the back and only hands elsewhere.

The three feel quite different from one another. The shaped tool is drawn along the muscle in slow, repeated strokes, and because it concentrates force through a smaller, harder surface than a palm it can feel firmer than you expect at the same effort. The vibrating massager is held against the larger muscles and is more of a steady buzz than a push. The vacuum cups have the air drawn out of them and are then either rested in place or slid along the oiled skin, which feels like a pull upwards rather than pressure going in. Pressure is adjustable exactly as it is in any other session, and it is worth saying early on whether you want more or less.

You may see this kind of tool work sold elsewhere under other names, with claims attached about reshaping the body, reducing cellulite or draining fluid. We make no such claims. We use the tools because they apply firm, even pressure comfortably, and for no other reason. 1. Say so when you book. Mention tool massage on WhatsApp so the session is set up for it before you arrive.
2. Oil and hands first, then the tools. The area is warmed by hand with oil, then the shaped tool, the vibrating massager and the cups are brought in, with hands used alongside them throughout.
3. Speak up about pressure early. A tool concentrates force, so it can feel firmer than the same effort by hand. Firm but comfortable is the target, and any tool you would rather not have can simply be left out.
4. Marks and tenderness afterwards. Suction cups can leave round marks that fade over a few days, and some tenderness in a worked area is common after firm-pressure work. Say beforehand if you would rather not have the cups used.
